The Committee previously held public hearings on Senate bills that are
substantially similar to House bills as noted.  Please focus your testimony
on the differences, if any, between the House and Senate measures
indentified below.


HB 2314          RELATING TO INSURANCE                               CPN
HD 1             Includes as unfair or deceptive practice that of
(SB 2563)           refusing to provide past or future coverage or limiting
                 claim.

HB 2472          RELATING TO INSURANCE                          CPN, WAM
HD 2             Makes numerous corrections and clarifications of the
(SB 2813)           State's insurance laws. 

HB 2473          RELATING TO INSURANCE                               CPN
HD 1             Consolidates laws and rules governing insurance. 
(SB 2814)           

HB 2474          RELATING TO INSURANCE                          CPN, JDC
HD 1             Requires that the consent of the Insurance Commissioner
(SB 2815)           must be obtained before a person who has been convicted of
                 a felony may engage in the business of insurance.

 
 
 
 
 
 


 
HB 2477          RELATING TO INSURANCE                               CPN
HD 1             Provides for state regulation of accelerated death
(SB 2818)           benefits agreements in life insurance policies and
                 certificates, as well as viatical settlement agreements.

HB 2487          RELATING TO FINANCING THE HAWAII HURRICANE     CPN, WAM
HD 1             RELIEF FUND
(SB 2828)           Makes amendments to make possible a post-hurricane
                 issuance of revenue bonds to pay claims made under HHRF
                 policies.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies of their testimony to the
committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.
Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate
Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for
neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time
of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to
participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter,
wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled), please
contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements
can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and
testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of
the public.
